World Cup 2014 Football Prediction Thread

World Cup 2014 is underway and the battle to determine the best football squad in the world is almost started. I created a thread to monitor and predict the teams that will advance in the next round. Remember that this is just my personal picks. This is a reference thread for my own betting picks, I hope you guys find it useful.. Pardon with my English

Group A Prediction: Brazil, Croatia, Cameroon, Mexico 

I think the majority will pick the host for this group. Brazil had a good squad as always, even they have shown a few weaknesses in the past, they need to stand out and secure their spot. Also the advantage of playing at home. 

Croatia late losses in their qualifying group is not an issue here. Croatia does have the surprise factor with Modrić, Mandzukić, Srna, Rakitić, Olić, Pletikosa. The chances against Brazil is low, a close match with a with Mexico that can lead to a draw. Cameron will not be a problem they will definitely crush them. 

I heard that Carlos Vela the Mexico's best player will not play in the tournament. The Mexican team has the greatest players, but they have a poor relationship as a team. The main focus of the Mexican squad is to avoid being eliminated in the group stages. 

Cameroon's performance against Tunisia was phenomenal with a solid 4 - 1 win. Cameroon has a terrible record when playing away from home and not be tolerated by the tough teams of this group.

Prediction: Brazil will be the top seed in this group. Croatia and Mexico will be the deciding match for a second. But the Croatia firepower house will edge the match and go to the next round.

Group C Predictions: 

Currently top 4 in the FIFA ranking Colombia may be the top choice for this group. Finishing second in the North American qualifying group and with the likes of Falcao this team will be a bad ass in this group. 

Ivory Coast probably the top contender for Colombia. With Manchester City's midfield man Yaya Toure, one of the biggest names in this tournament. This will be a great opportunity to show his talent in the world stage. 

Japan has a strong squad, but with the likes of Colombia and Ivory Coast to compete with, this will be a tough one for the Samurai Blue. But the Japanese can provide a challenge to any opponent they face. Japan could surprise a team or two. 

This is the third time Greece will step in the World Cup. The target for them is to past the group stages its not an easy task, especially Colombia and Ivory Coast are there. Maybe they will put a good show against Japan, but the Japanese will not that easy to beat.

I think Brazil the host will win World Cup.

After the group matches we can tell which team is on tournament mode. Too hard to actually predict who will won the CUP ..

Group D Predictions:

Honestly, it's really hard to predict which two teams will advance to the next round. But I am confident that Uruguay will make it through to the second round as group winners. Luis Suarez is the nations key player one of my favorites and 1 of the world dangerous football player.

Italy biggest threat will be Uruguay a strong team that play good football, especially in the last five to six years. Competition is just too strong in this group, but with the likes of Wayne Rooney Italy will surely make it through.. 

As much as we may like to see England progress, their current form, a dodgy record against better sides and a lack of top quality players makes it hard to see the Three Lions emerge from this group unscathed. Roy Hodgson’s side shouldn’t be ruled out, but it will be very tough, especially in a humid Brazil.

Costa Rica will be lose to England. It's the last game of the group phase, so both teams could arrive without the chance of qualifying for the next round.

Group E Predictions

Each team will have their reasons to believe they can qualify, but I'm looking for France and Switzerland to make it through. Ecuador and Honduras are my picks to be heading home early..  

France has the talent to be group winners here. Their form has been good recently made it five wins from six games. If France uses what should be a relatively easy qualifying group stage to develop genuine team chemistry they can be more dangerous for the other teams. 

Switzerland knows how to win games, they breezed through qualifying and unbeaten in ten games, keeping seven clean wins. This will be a showdown for the top spot for the French and Swiss teams, but also an intense competition from Central and South American opponents.

Ecuador had an excellent home record they conceded three goals at home during prelims and drop two points, but away from home they only got 3 points from seven matches. They didn't win any of those seven away matches. That's bad news for them because they need to play away two times in this group. Also, they will against France in the last match in this group which is they are the home team. 

Honduras will be my bottom team for this group. They have a good result and qualify, but France and Switzerland are too good especially in this international tournament. Maybe a first world cup win against Ecuador, but I think will not be happening.

World Cup Betting Picks

The Croatians know they are big underdogs in this match, but they will not fall apart, being a veteran-laden squad that has nearly 1,000 caps between all the players.

They will defend and take chances to deflate the boisterous crowd in the first match of the tournament. If they succeed and manage a draw, they will create the first shock wave in Brazil and reward underdog bettors with a 4-1 payout.

But its difficult because of Neymar and the whole Brazilian squad.

Mexico will not tolerate the weakness of Cameroon when playing away this will be a 2 - 0 for the Mexicans. I'm not underestimating Cameroon's performance, but I think they've no chance on Mexico.

I do like the performance of Chile in their previous matches against Spain and Australia. I will not be surprised if they snatch a victory against Brazil. But also I don't want to a huge underdog bet for this match so I will be looking for values in AH and O/U. Both sides have a strong forwards and that will be interesting. We all know that Brazil has the home advantage and Chile' performance in away is not that good. If Chile focuses on defense and look for potential goals this will be a 1-1 in the 90 minute mark and a profit from Under 2.5 goals 2.05 with SBOBet.
